The NATAS chairman dismissed the notion of the Daytime Emmys failing to find a TV home next year. This year negotiations for a new TV home didn?t get underway until mid-March, after an arrangement with former producer Associated Television International (ATI) fell apart. He believes getting a TV deal done sooner could help with rehabilitating the profile of the show, and plans to begin sitting down with prospective partners July 1. Wienges emphasized that the Daytime Emmys would continue in 2013 as a televised event. The hybrid event would launch no sooner than three or four years from now, NATAS chairman Malachy Wienges told Variety on Monday, and would not replace any of the existing awards shows ? but would seek to draw upon the added star power that the news and sports events provide. I also don't care for the promo pictures as they are promo pictures, we're seen hundreds of times. So far it doesn't seem like people are overjoyed with the new opening.
Unfortunately this version eliminated that feature. The one thing I appreciated with the last style was how we saw the names of the actors and characters. I don't think it is a great new opening, as with such a short amount of time it would be difficult to be brilliant. Certain characters are focused upon, but the others you can see if you are able to watch it in slow motion. This 10 second opening uses promotional pictures of the cast along with a CGI version of the hospital and logo. Executive Producer Frank Valentini tweeted a message to fans after it aired: "Hope you love the new open! You'll see the rotation on Monday's ?#GH?." General Hospital debuted a new opening on Friday.
